How to use this calculator
Enter a nonnegative area, select its source unit and choose a result unit. This converts area, not length.
Formula
A₂ = A₁ × (m² / unit₁) ÷ (m² / unit₂)
Worked example
1 acre = 43,560 ft² = 4,046.8564224 m². One hectare equals 10,000 m², approximately 2.47105 acres.
Assumptions and limits
International feet and statute miles are used. Historical survey units are not modeled. Display values are rounded; tiny nonzero results use scientific notation.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the length factor squared?
Area has two dimensions. Because 1 m = 100 cm, 1 m² = 100 × 100 = 10,000 cm².
What units should I use?
Choose your input unit, then enter every dimension in that unit. The result unit can be changed independently.
Does this include waste or material costs?
No. This is geometric area only. Add openings, overlap, cutting waste, prices and installation requirements separately.
Calculated locally; rounded only for display.
